Revenant – Apex Guide: Origin

The well-known Revenant was originally a human by the name of Kaleb Cross. He was the greatest hitman for the Mercenary Syndicate. At some point in time, the syndicate decided to transfer Kaleb’s mind into a robotic killing machine that we now know as Revenant. Though Kaleb’s mind was transferred, the syndicate wrote in code that gave him the illusion he was still human. It was so well written that Revenant would even see his human reflection in the mirror.

One day this illusion was shattered and Revenant’s lust for revenge came to life. He vowed to eliminate those at Hammond Robotics who had wronged him and imprisoned him in the robotic killing machine. When Hammond Robotics sponsored a fighter, Forge, to join the Apex games, Revenant killed him and took his place in the games. Now it’s up to you to use Revenant in the Apex games to satisfy his bloodlust.

Revenant – Apex Guide: Strengths and Weaknesses

Revenant is a very versatile legend and can be used in almost any situation. Most players will see and use him as more of an offensive character, and rightfully so. He is quick on his feet and can scale buildings better than any other legend in the Apex games. Not only can he outmaneuver other players but also silence them from using their abilities.

Even when Revenant needs to lay low and stay quiet for a second, he can move very quickly when crouched and avoid enemies in the process…..or quickly sneak up to them. When crouch walking, his audio queue is louder than other legends so this can give away your position to some enemies. The main thing when it comes to playing Revenant is you basically have an extra life with him. We will go into this later but this is a key factor to his playability and how he can overcome any team.

Revenant – Apex Guide: Abilities Overview

Like we’ve already mentioned, Revenant brings a lot to the table in terms of variety and versatility. Let’s take a closer look at what that is exactly.

  • Passive: Stalker
    • Crouch walk faster and climb higher than other legends
  • Tactical: Silence
    • Throw a device that deals 10 damage and disables enemy abilities for 20 seconds
  • Ultimate: Death Totem
    • Drop a totem that protects the users from death. Instead of getting killed or downed, you return to the totem. Your armor is deactivated during Death Protection.

Stalker Tips (Passive)

Revenant’s passive is great for scaling high hard-to-reach places or even get away from enemies. When you’re in a gunfight and you are losing, simply scale a building to a higher floor and heal while the enemy has to go inside and run upstairs. The same applies if you are winning the gunfight. If the enemy runs inside low on health and tries to block the door, instead of punching the door down you can climb up to the second/third-floor balcony and enter from there.

Things you might not have known about Revenant’s Stalker:

  • Your crouch walk speed is the same as your normal walk speed (basically, no movement penalty).
  • Since there is no movement penalty when crouching, STRAFE! Revenant is the best legends in the game to crouch strafe and to avoid gunfire.
  • Also try to pop shields or heals when crouched to make it harder to enemies to hit you.
silence

Silence Tips (Tactical)

This is where I see people use Revenant as either an offense or defensive legend. We’ve already established he is mainly used for offense but this ability allows for both playstyles. With Silence, you can completely stop an enemy from being able to use their abilities on you and force them into a straight-up gunfight. This ability does deal damage to those who enter it and that damage will increase the longer the opponent stands in it.

Things you might not have known about Revenant’s Silence:

  • You can continue to shoot, reload, and heal while using Silence because it is thrown using your off-hand.
  • If you and your team get trapped in a building use your Silence to block the entrances. This will not stop doors from opening and bullets flying in, but it will make the enemy back off a little and give you time to regroup and get ready to fight.
  • Wattson’s Interception Pylon can shoot your Silence out of the air.
  • Silence can even affect some enemy legend’s passive abilities. For example, Lifeline’s revive drone.

Death Totem Tips (Ultimate)

Revenant’s Death Totem is something to be feared by any team. No one wants to have back-to-back fights. With the Death Totem, even if your whole team dies, you get a second shot to run in and finish the job. The Death Totem will stay activated for 30 seconds, in which time you and your team can use it to enter “shadow form”. While in this form you cannot use abilities and damage received is dealt straight to your health, not shields. If you do die in “shadow form”, you return to the Death Totem with full shield and half health.

Things you might not have known about Revenant’s Death Totem:

  • Be aware of the timer at the bottom of your screen while in shadow form. Once that timer runs out and you are still alive, the Death Totem will disappear and you will be stuck in your current location. If you put yourself in a bad location then you can be killed like normal.
  • Place the Death Totem in a secure location. It can be shot and destroyed, leaving you and your team in a bad spot.
  • A great strategy, as well as many others in the best trio comps, is using Revenant’s Death Totem with Octane’s Launch Pad and Caustic’s gas traps. The gas traps will be used to protect the totem and the Launch Pad will be used to rush enemy teams after you have used the Death Totem.

Revenant – Apex Guide: Tips and Tricks

Finally, let’s go over some tips and tricks you should always keep in mind while playing Revenant. Use these in each of your matches going forward.

  • Hesitation will hurt you. Revenant is built to be an offensive legend. There have been many times when I see a revenant use their Silence or Death Totem and then hesitate or wait on an enemy. This leaves the enemy with time to think and counterattack. Don’t give the enemy time to think!
  • Shoot while using your Tactical ability. Silence is thrown using your off-hand. If you are being rushed or are rushing a team, thrown your Silence while also aiming and shooting your enemies. This is a great use of time where other abilities take a second to activate, leaving you defenseless. Don’t forget, you can also heal and reload while using Silence.
  • Communication is key. Your Death Totem is not meant for you to use solo and run in the fight. Let your team know your ultimate is up and gather everyone together to initiate a full-on shadow form attack. Doing this will increase your odds of defeating your opponent.
  • Crouch-strafe is worth practicing. Strafing, moving, and crouching makes you a much harder target to hit. This generally wouldn’t work using other legends but with Revenant’s Stalker ability makes it much easier. Hop into training and practice your movement with crouch-strafing and then apply it in the game.

Nice! You now have the knowledge and tools you need to master Revenant. Take this guide with you and use it to your every advantage.
