Mirage – Apex Guide: Origin

Mirage is a wonderful fighter and a skilled holographic trickster. From what we know about him, his character build-up evolved when he started working with his mom on next-level holographic tech. As a youngster who lost his brothers and father in the heat of war, his mother was not ready to easily let him off the hook.

Although he worked at a bar to keep up with needed expenses for his mom, working on the holographic technology with his mother helped him build a stronger bond with her.

Generally, Mirage is a lovable character with many jokes. As funny as he could be, he still had lots of trouble making friends which made him a loner for most of his life. However, from time to time, he had momentary friends like Pathfinder.

After several terrifying moments of lonely bartending and working with his mom, he had to face the real war which he had been avoiding, and with his holographic tech, he stood a better chance than most.

Mirage – Apex Guide: Strengths and Weaknesses

Mirage’s importance in the Apex legends is not only linked to his sky-high holographic tech but also his strength and mobility. We can say Mirage is one of the executive characters in Apex Legends. His quirkiness is great and with a wild show of humor. He can create holograms of himself which could be used as a decoy to fool enemies. Because of its usefulness, the hologram makes him deceptively strong.

When in a tough situation and surrounded by enemies, Mirage can easily fool them with a fake holographic version of himself.  This makes him a unique valued player on the team. His holographic disguise can also be used to easily lure targets and enemies into traps.  However, Mirage isn’t all-out strong. If he is caught in a one-on-one face-off he’d easily escape, but a team-up against him is bad news.

Mirage – Apex Guide: Abilities Overview

Mirage’s abilities make him one of the most cunning and sneaky legends in the game. If a tough situation arises, you can count on Mirage to weasel his way out. Let’s take a closer look at what he brings to the Apex Games.

  • Passive: Now You See Me…
    • Automatically cloak when reviving teammates and using Respawn Beacons.
  • Tactical: Psyche Out
    • Send out a holographic decoy to confuse the enemy. You can also control the decoy.
  • Ultimate: Life of the Party
    • Mirage deploys a team of controllable decoys to distract enemies.

Now You See Me… (Passive)

Now You See Me… is a defensive-evasive ability. Its greatest strength is when reviving teammates, both of you will be invisible by Mirage’s cloaking device. You also become cloaked when using the Respawn Beacon. While this passive is very nice, more skilled players can easily detect you when you’re cloaked based on audio queues alone.

Things you might not have known about Mirage’s Now You See Me… :

  • You get an added bonus with this passive. When you get knocked by an enemy, you become cloaked and send out a decoy in your place for a short time. This can help if they knock you from far away and you can crawl back to your team.

Psyche Out (Tactical)

Psyche Out is a tactical ability and can put you to some advantage if used correctly. As Mirage’s second ability, it also puts you in a position of real advantage, especially in a cross-fire situation. When used, Mirage sends fast personal imagery of himself directly towards the enemy. Although it only lasts for a few seconds, it puts the enemy in a dilemma as they’d be confused about who the real Mirage is. In that moment of confusion, you can use a sneak-up attack that properly targets the enemy to kill. This ability works perfectly fine when you face off one or two strong opponents that need to be eliminated.

Things you might not have known about Mirage’s Psyche Out:

  • You can control your decoy with your alternate interact key to make your decoy seem more realistic.
  • Don’t try to use your decoy as a shield because they do not block bullets.
  • Each decoy has 45 health but will begin to flicker if shot once.
  • If you’re feeling risky, try to make yourself look like the decoy with predictable movement. It’s more of a meme play but so satisfying if executed.
  • Use your decoy to clear buildings or corners. If your decoy gets shot, your know there is an enemy waiting for you.
  • Decoys and be deployed when sky diving! This is helpful to throw enemies off on where you are really landing.

Life of the Party (Ultimate)

Life of the Party is a well-defined combination of the “Psyche Out” and “Now You See Me…“. When you deploy Life of the Party, Mirage sends out a group of decoys like in Psyche Out and in that same moment disappears. The decoy holograph doesn’t move more than a few meters away from Mirage. But there’s a trick to it! Which is to deploy the move beside a ledge. When you do, the decoy falls off the ledge and keeps running towards the enemy like in psyche out.

Things you might not have known about Mirage’s Life of the Party:

  • Mirage himself only turns invisible for 1 second before reappearing and blending in with his decoys.
  • Use your ultimate when reviving a teammate. While the enemy is busy hunting you down among the decoys, you and your downed teammate will be cloaked while reviving.
  • Since your decoys do not run away from you, try to use your ultimate indoor or in close-quarter situations.

Mirage – Apex Guide: Tips and Tricks

Interestingly, that’s not all there is about Mirage. These tips and tricks can be used for better gameplay and to better optimize all of Mirage’s abilities. Let’s take a look.

Crawl if you cannot walk: It’s best to use Now You See Me… in a situation where you feel overwhelmed by the enemy. It’d keep you safe for a while until it deactivates. However, if you get knocked down in the process, crawl to the next best place before you are finally visible to the enemies. Find a good spot to hide in then wait for your teammates to frag out and provide you with the necessary support. This would increase your chances of survival.

Frequently make use of Psyche Out: Either in combat or not, always make use of Psyche Out. One of the major advantages of Mirage’s abilities is how fast they regenerate. Abilities like Psyche Out only take about 12 seconds to regenerate. If you need to move out into a new post or location, then it’d be wise to first use a decoy. This is because enemies are always lurking. Even if they did see a decoy, they can’t tell if it’s real or not and would inevitably shoot at it. This would give off possible enemy locations and you can flank them with a varying surprise attack.

When Elevated, make use of Life of the Party: Mirage is special but his Life of the Party is always off the charts. Of course, you can use it as the need arises but it’s best if the holograph can keep up pace and meter apart. It is therefore advisable to deploy your ultimate when standing on a ledge or anything that’s quite elevated.

Now you have it! The explicit information on getting the best and making the most out of Mirage. These are guides you can easily follow. Use them! Try out some of these tricks the next time you game and experience how perfectly each fits for any scenario. You’d be giving yourself a wonderful gaming head start.
